FAQ

Bluebird Pizzeria, est. 2014

Do you offer delivery?

No, we do not offer in-house delivery currently. Subsequently, we are no longer accepting orders from 3rd parties (Door Dash, Postmates, etc.)

Can I order online?

Yes! Visit our "Order Online" page for more information. Please note online ordering may be unavailable during peak / busy times.

Can I call in an order to pick up?

Yes, you may call in an order during our regular business hours at 510-562-1199. We have only one phone line so busy signals are not uncommon during peak times. You are welcome to call in advance and request a pick-up time that is convenient for you.

How long do your pizzas take to prepare?

Our thin crust pizzas take around 15 minutes to prepare from start to finish. Call-in orders are generally quoted between 15-35 minutes. During peak times, however, one hour+ wait times are not uncommon when calling for pick-up.

Can I pay with a credit card over the phone?

Generally, we do accept payment over the phone. Please understand during peak times, we may not be able to do so.

How many people can one of your pizzas feed?

A small (12”) can feed 1–3 adults; a large (16”) feeds 2–4 adults.

Can you accommodate large pizza orders?

Yes, however, we do request that you place orders of 10+ pizzas 24 hours in advance. Discounts and or delivery may be available.

Do you take reservations?

No, we do not take reservations. If no seating is available, you will be in line for a table once your order is placed. Your pizza will be prepared while you wait.

Can I order ahead if planning to Dine-In?

Yes, you may call us to place an order, so your pizza is ready when you arrive. However, there is no guarantee a table will be available when you arrive.

Can you accommodate large groups?

Indoor seating capacity is around 30 people.  As stated above, our seating is on a first come first serve basis. However, with ample notice, we will do our best to accommodate parties of 6 or more.

Can we bring our own cake and wine?

Of course, no problem! Guests are permitted to bring their own cake and wine.

Are you family-friendly?

Yes, we love little ones, and have high chairs, coloring, and books available.

Do you accommodate food allergies?

We will happily try to accommodate almost any food allergy and dietary restriction. If you have questions or concerns about this, please call us so we can confirm for you. Our crust contains no dairy, added sugar, or MSG. With the exception of our White sauce, all sauces are vegan.

Do you have gluten free pizza?

Yes, we offer a gluten-free (and vegan) crust substitution for any of our 12” pizzas. Since they are prepared and cooked on surfaces with exposure to wheat flour, we cannot guarantee the absence of all gluten in its entirety. Please allow for extra time, as preparation time is a little longer.

Can I get Par-Baked pizza?

Yes. Our par-baked pizzas come un-sliced, unless otherwise specified. For best results: Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Take the pizza out of the box (Liners are NOT ovenproof) and slide it onto pre-heated stone, pan or directly on rack in the middle of your oven. Bake it until cheese is bubbling and it becomes golden brown. Please do not microwave.

Do you have a rewards program?

Yes, we are happy to reward our loyal customers. Our frequent buyer punch card is available for whole pizzas only. Buy ten and your next one is on us!

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, gift cards are available in any denomination and may be purchased in our shop or online store. There is no expiration date, and may be redeemed in-house or online.

What is the significance of the name “Bluebird Pizzeria”?

Our location was once home to “Bluebird” Sports bar. We simply preserved the name.

How does a pizza place run out of pizza?

Our commitment to quality is more important to us than quantity. Occasionally, we do run out of dough to make pizza. To better ensure availability for your needs, we recommend ordering online before we open, or calling ahead of time for future pick-up.

Why are your hours so limited, do you have another job?

Quite a bit of preparation goes into making our pizza. We take no short-cuts to insure quality and consistency. We use only fresh whole ingredients for our toppings and salads. Sauces, dressings, and baked goods are all scratch-made. It's a full time gig, so no; I don’t have another “job”.;)

Where did you learn how to make pizza?

It started innocently enough… From the time I could reach the kitchen counter,  armed with a jar of Aunt Millie’s, blocks of Polly-O cheese, I fashioned pizza on Italian bread, English muffins, bagels, etc. Making pizza began in earnest upon moving to the Bay Area in the from Los Angeles in 1996, escalating from a few times a year to a few times per week, in pursuit of the taste of pizza in New Jersey, where I had grown up.

Honestly, I never once envisioned I’d have a pizzeria someday, it just sort of happened…

Enjoy! - Frances Leidy, Owner, Bluebird Pizzeria
